Jmi Lilinoe Bassett Asam, D.M.D.

Dr. Jmi Lilinoe Bassett Asam was born and raised on the island of O'ahu, Hawai'i.  She grew up on the Windward side in Kahalu'u. 

After graduating from Kamehameha Schools in 1997, Dr. Asam attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics as well as a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.  Immediately following graduation from college, she went on to earn her degrees in dentistry.  In 2005, Dr. Asam graduated Cum Laude with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.  She is the first Hawaiian, and resident of Hawai'i, to graduate from Harvard School of Dental Medicine.  She was also able to work at the school as a Prosthodontic Dental Assistant for two years during her time in Boston.  Following her D.M.D. degree, Dr. Asam attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for three years of additional specialty training in Advanced Prosthodontics.  With this extra training, Dr. Asam is able to utilize  state-of the art techniques to handle even the most complex of patients. 

After earning her certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics, Dr. Asam worked in Chicago, Illinois as a Prosthodontist.  She worked at ClearChoice Dental Implant Center, which is the leading national provider of dental implants and full-mouth implant reconstructions. Dr. Asam soon saw an opportunity to move back home to Hawai'i and open her own dental office, which opened in August 2009.  In regards to moving home and opening her office, she says, "I left Hawai'i after high school, knowing that I would come home.  Hence, I am so excited to finally be back and to be able to share my dental expertise with the community I love.  I wanted to create a dental office that was esthetically welcoming and technologically advanced....and I was able to accomplish both.  I am excited to provide patients with quality and comprehensive dental care.  I also pride myself in taking the time to educate my patients about their dental conditions.  I want them to be able to understand what is going on so that they can choose the dental solution that best fits their needs and finances.  I look forward to meeting every patient that walks in my door."

Dr. Asam was recently named to Honolulu Magazine's 2011 Best Dentists in Hawai`i.
